[reference] Vuhlkansu

Introduction

“Vuhlkansu” - Vulcan languages; Vulcan culture; Vulcan people and species as a collective.

This is a reference work I plan on adding to and revising intermittently and semi-frequently. It is not a story, but I believe it is a transformative work. Its content includes and will include a combination of my own observations, analyses and headcanons, and aspects of and references to those of other fans and fannish groups.

One of the wonderful (YMMV) things about Trek is the richness and blurry lines between the 'official' and 'unofficial' works in the fandom. I will talk a lot about things that are in some way fanon, but that in some cases are much older (sometimes by decades) and more widely agreed upon in fannish circles than official material - and some of which have been incorporated into official material. This might not be a positive thing in a lot of fandoms, and I'm certainly not claiming that it always is with Star Trek, but please do bear in mind, if you need to, that Star Trek is a different beast entirely to most fandoms. It is, for one well-known example, the original.

I have tried and will try to mark my sources, but this is a work in progress! I don't always know, for example, where a bit of fanon comes from. This work is in large part to relocate or backup some of this information from my brain-storage. However, if you get something from it or find it helpful, I am delighted by this. If you feel it may do so, I recommend bookmarking it to find it again and see what additions might have been made - but, of course, I do not suggest any obligation to do such.

Corrections and questions are very welcomed.

Family Tree: House of Surak

A family tree, laid out as follows:
T'Leia and Solek are the parents of Surak, who with his (speculatively named) wife T'Galu are the speculative ancestors of T'Pau. T'Pau speculatively married the (speculatively named) Salar, the brother of Solkar. Solkar sired Skon, who had an ex-wife T'Melis and a wife T'Rama. T'Rama's father was Supek, and T'Rama and Skon have two children, Sarek and Silek. Sarek had an ex-wife T'Rea, with whom he fathered Sybok, who was disowned. Sarek has a wife Amanda, with whom he has a son, Spock. Spock was formerly betrothed to T'Pring, and is semi-speculatively bonded to James and speculatively has a daughter, Saavik.

Related to this family, speculatively through T'Pau, is Sorel. Sorel has a speculative husband Daniel and a wife T'Zan, with whom he has two children, Soton and T'Mir.

Red dashed links indicate severed ties, such as divorces, annulments, and disowned children. Dotted lines indicate interceding generations and/or uncertain descent. An asterisk after a name indicates I made up the name, rather than sourcing from alpha or beta (and this is mostly beta) canon. Green indicates a relationship is speculative; yellow indicates 'come on, it's not really speculative, is it?'
