Disabled culture is a thing! concepts like crip time and spoon theory are good examples of concepts common in Disabled culture. i recommend looking up Disabled arts like krip-hop as well.
"disabled" = descriptor; this person has a disability. "Disabled" = this person is a member of the Disabled community and wants people to know their Disabled identity is important. think black/Black or d/Deaf. and then research Deaf culture some. Deaf people & culture are cool.
United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. some countries have their own legal protections and rights enshrined for d/Disabled people too. also check out this communication bill of rights, which i've linked to a plain language version of.
because when the world tells you that who you are is something bad, there's only so long that you stand it before something gives way, and it better not be your sense of self-worth or your belief you have a right to exist unpon this earth as a member of this or any species.
